Sometimes, I browse the Internet in search of luxury treats that I can tell you about. A while ago, I came across the Fingal hotel. Although I had not yet had the opportunity to visit the place myself, I am certain that during my next stay in Scotland I will definitely want to spend there a few nights and see for myself how luxurious this floating hotel is 😉

A former ship of the navigation service
The Fingal opened its doors at the beginning of this year. The adaptation of the vessel to its new function (it was formerly used by the Northern Lighthouse Board) cost GBP 5 million. The hotel is located in the historical Port of Leith.

23 luxurious cabins
The vessel houses 23 luxurious cabins. Each is named after a lighthouse designed by Robert Stevenson, the famous Scottish lighthouse designer who lived and works in late 18thand early 20thcenturies. There are both regular hotel cabins but also ones that offer direct access to the deck, a two-floor apartment or the Skerryvore suite which has its own relaxation zone.

Marine style
All cabins and common areas were finished by local craftsmen who gave the interiors a unique marine style. The colour scheme selected was to bring to mind sea voyages.

Exceptional common areas
On the deck of the Fingal there is The Lighthouse Bar or an incredible ballroom with a moving skylight. All this makes the hotel the perfect venue for private parties, wedding receptions or corporate events.

Perfect location
The Fingal is permanently moored in the old part of the port and offers a short commute to the strict centre of Edinburgh. It takes a 15-minute or so walk to reach all the attractions that the Scottish capital has in store.

The rate for the night?
A double room with complimentary Full Scottish breakfast is avaialble from GBP 300.
