We live in very uncertain times. Two weeks ago no-one would have thought that a simple virus will be bringing the whole world to a halt for at least a few weeks, if not longer. And yet it did happen. I guess that in such circumstances many of you ask yourself the following question: how should I invest my money?
It doesn’t realny matter if you are or are not interested in the world’s new. I am pretty sure that all of you heard about the price drops on stock markets, unpredictable exchange rates and constantly changing price of gold or oil. So, how to best invest your money? Well, one thing worth considering are valuable watches. In my opinion a make to consider is definitely Audemars Piguet.
Some history
Audemars Piguet originated in 1875 in the Swiss Le Brassus, a small village in the mountains. It was created by two men from watchmakers’ families: Jules Louis Audemars and Edward August Piguet. In the beginning, Audemars worked alone but in 1881 he was joined by Piguet. They set a common goal: to make watches that will be both practical and precise. Their business attitude had one very important base: working as close with their clients as possible.
The gentlemen and their workshop not only made watches but also broke many records: in 1915 the world witnessed the creation of the smallest mechanism with 5-minute repeater, in 1924 the company presented the first jumping-hours wristwatch and in 1925 Audemars Piguet premiered the world’s thinnest pocketwatch with only 1.32 mm thickness.
Currently, Audemars Piguet creates unique watches and in the making of them follows a set of rules: respect for the environment, cultivation of the watchmaking craftsmanship at its best, preservation of their independence and application of the highest standards. Until today the company produces only handmade mechanical chronographs.
Which watch should one choose for investment?
If I had to recommend one particular watch, it would be without a doubt Royal Oak Automatic. This particular model has been around since 1972 and it has not been altered. The price varies depending on the version and can be anything between twenty or so thousand zlotys and over a million zlotys. One thing you can be sure of: it is a great investment for the future.
