Changes, changes, changes… without this, my company would not be able to develop in the way I would like. That’s why I have been quite intensively involved in developing brokerage services in foreign markets for some time now. My main destinations are Spain, Portugal, France and Croatia; today I will present the advantages of these first two locations. For years, I have been working with intermediaries from France, Spain or Portugal. Why buy a property in Spain or Portugal?
As a luxury real estate agency, we can cope with any market, but we specialise in a few southern European countries. Today I would like to focus on two of them: Spain and Portugal.
Spain
In sunny Spain, the most beautiful thing is, of course, the… the coast. And not just the Costa del Sol in the very south, but also the Costa Blanca (Murcia and Valencia) or the Costa Brava (located north of Barcelona). And although all these coasts are quite different, each offers a great deal, high temperatures all year round, access to the Mediterranean, great infrastructure and numerous golf courses.
When it comes to specific locations, I recommend Marbella. This small city is one of the most famous (if not the most famous) resort not only in Spain, but also in Europe. If you are lucky, you will meet George Clooney, Julio Iglesias or Antonio Banderas on the street.
Marbella is located at the foot of the Sierra Blanca mountains, but it is the nearby Sierra Nevada that is particularly attractive due to its numerous ski runs, mainly easy and intermediate, although there are also a few black runs. More than 100 km of pistes, excellent snow conditions and plenty of sunshine make it one of the most popular ski stations in Spain.

Portugal
Situated at the tip of Europe, Portugal was for many years considered the inferior sister of Spain, which dominates the Iberian Peninsula. Today, it is one of those countries in Europe that boasts very luxurious and very expensive properties.
Particularly noteworthy, of course, are well-known cities such as Lisbon, Porto, Faro and the Algarve. Thanks to their numerous airports, they are well connected to the rest of the continent and close to Spain by road.
Apart from the obvious advantages, such as access to the sea and sunny weather for most of the year, it is worth mentioning the excellent cuisine – there are as many as 28 restaurants with one or two Michelin stars in this small country – or the golf courses. Many enthusiasts of the sport consider Portugal to be the best golf destination in the world. In this context, the amazing Quinta do Lago is worth mentioning.
Portugal is also a number of facilitations for foreigners with wealthy wallets, including the Golden Visa programme that allows those who invest enough money to obtain residency in the country.
And what town do I particularly recommend? Situated near Lisbon, Cascais is a former port town that has developed into a popular resort in recent years. It is here that you will find many luxury residences owned by wealthy Lisboners and foreign visitors.
