Ferrari Daytona SP3: sold out before official launch
Unceasingly, I am a big fan of cars with the logo of a willowy black horse. A few days ago another supercar from the stable of this “pony” had its premiere, so today I have for you some photos and a short description of the Ferrari Daytona SP3. I am doing this with all the more pleasure, because all 599 cars from this limited series found their new owners even before they left the factory for good, so it must be an exceptional car.
An icon in design
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 is one of those supercars that takes its inspiration from the past. It’s another model in the ‘Icona’ series, harking back to the brand’s history, specifically the 330 P3/4, which is the car that won the 24 Hours of Daytona in the late 1960s. In addition, the other two models that came out of the “Icona” project, the Ferrari Monza SP1 and the Ferrari Monza DSp2, also took first places in the famous 24-hour classics of the time.
It should come as no surprise, then, that all 599 Ferrari Daytona SP3 have basically sold out even before its launch. The new Ferrari has the classic beauty of racing cars from 50 years ago, yet has all the advantages of modern supercars. The manufacturer itself says it is the most aerodynamically efficient model built without the use of active aerodynamic systems.
Let’s take a look under the bonnet
Of course, the title is only a metaphor, because the heart of this model is located right behind the seats. It is the most powerful naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12 engine in the Ferrari range. This power unit can crank out a staggering 840bhp, with maximum torque of 687Nm at 9500rpm. Anyone who has ever listened to it knows that its sound is music to the ears of any car lover. A 7-speed automatic gearbox is responsible for efficient and precise power transmission to the rear wheels.
With such engine parameters, the performance should be impressive and it is: it takes 2.85 seconds to get to 62 mph, and the top speed is as high as 211 mph. This would not be possible without the use of technologies from Formula 1, which allow the car to achieve a relatively low unladen weight (only 1485 kg) thanks to a composite chassis with integrated seats.
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 is also equipped with various proprietary Ferrari systems (including the SSC 6.1 driving dynamics system and the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer); Pirelli also developed special P Zero Corsa tyres for the car.
On the Internet you can find information according to which the price  tag of this car is 2.25 million dollars. It is said that 5 such cars will be produced in Poland.
