Audi e-tron GT: strong and powerful
It’s fast, it’s strong, it’s beautiful and it’s … electric. The Audi e-tron GT has just been shown to the world in a version that will hit showrooms.
I have been waiting for this premiere for a long time: on February 9, the premiere of the Audi e-tron GT and the Audi RS e-tron GT took place. It is a unique car in every respect that cannot be passed by indifferently. Its direct competitor is the Tesla Model S Plaid. At first glance, you can see that the designers and engineers did their best to make it an equal fight.
The most powerful serial production car is … electric
It has been known for a long time that the Audi e-tron GT will be an “e-car”. I must admit that I am impressed by the courage of the brand, which has specialized in strong and fun-to-drive combustion units for the last few decades. A lot of things could go wrong. Fortunately, Audi once proved that it can make great cars, regardless of how they are driven. Remembering that the first concepts of this car were shown in 2009, I must admit that it was worth waiting for.
A lot of power
The new Audi was presented in two versions: e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT. Both have two electric motors – one for each axle. The first one generates 238 bhp for both models, the differences only appear on the rear axle: the e-tron GT produces 435 bhp, and the RS e-tron 456 bhp (with the possibility of a few seconds increase in boost mode up to 646 bhp). What does this mean in terms of performance? The e-tron GT takes 4.1 seconds to accelerate to the “hundred”. The RS e-tron GT only needs 3.3 seconds. The top speeds slightly differ and are 245 km/h and 250 km/h respectively. A lot of power!
It is worth adding that thanks to the use of 800V voltage, the car can be charged with a power of up to 270 kW. This means really fast charging (up to 80% in less than 23 minutes). The range on a single charge is nearly 490 km. Impressive!
A style from outer space
The Audi e-tron is a beautiful gran turismo refined in every way. It will transport four people and their luggage from point A to point B. In theory, it should be great to drive – the center of gravity is low, the suspension is adjustable, the car is well balanced. But the e-tron is not only comfortable, but also stylish.
Beautiful aerodynamic silhouette, low hood, low height (only 141 cm) and as much as 5 meters in length make the e-tron extremely slim. There are no surprises inside when it comes to clocks and displays. These are basically solutions that we know from other brand models. What particularly captivated me is the use of recycled materials in the upholstery.
