Not only Rolex, or 5 watch brands worth investing in
For as long as I can remember, I have been a big fan of luxury watches. I appreciate them not only for being masterfully made and simply beautiful, but also for their investment attractiveness. Today I have a recommendation of five brands that I think are perfect for wearing and investing. Of course, there is a Rolex among them, but I think I have even more respect and sympathy for the others, i.e. Richard Mille, Hublot, Ulysse Nardin and Blancpain. Maybe because Rolex is an obvious choice for everyone, and the other brands are a bit less widely known.
Rolex
For many, a synonym of luxury watches, advertised, among others, by such celebrities as Roger Federer, George Clooney and Tiger Woods. The Swiss brand is known primarily for its models such as Submariner, GMT-Master or Yacht-Master. Classic elegance combined with reliability make up this legendary brand. And I think I’ll end the description here, because everyone knows Rolex and everyone knows that these are expensive and worth the price watches.
Richard Mille
This watch caught my attention the first time when I saw it on Rafa Nadal’s wrist. The history of the brand is relatively short, barely 20 years, but the timepieces produced in Le Breuleux quickly gained the status of luxurious and very desirable. Although I like classic elegance, Richard Mille captivated me with his very unorthodox approach to form and appearance, as well as the innovation of his designs.
Hublot
Another Swiss brand without several hundred years of tradition, which has already become a legend. The first watch created by Carlo Crocco had a case of gold and the strap … of rubber. This unusual and seemingly mismatched combination has won the hearts of many watch lovers. You could even say that Crocco was ahead of his times – although this combination seemed iconoclastic in the early 1980s, in the next decade many companies decided to use this material for their belts.
Ulysse Nardin
Established in 1846, the manufacture has been creating beautiful timepieces since its beginnings. Beautiful, but also useful – this brand was a pioneer of marine chronometers, and its products were used by the armed forces of many countries. Interestingly, it is the most awarded brand among all manufactories: it has 4 850 different awards and medals. These watches are also produced in small numbers – only 5,000 pieces leave the factory in Le Locle each year.
Blancpain
Blancpain is the oldest – founded in 1735 – Swiss watch manufacturer that produced the most complicated watch in the world – Blancpain 1735, combining such complications as a tourbillon, two chronographs, a minute repeater or a perpetual calendar. My favourite watch from this brand is the Fifty Fathoms, a legendary diver that was created in the 1950s as a response to the needs of the French Navy.
