An amazing modernist residence in Podkowa Leśna that has never been inhabited, has just been added to my company’s offer!
In my work as a luxury real estate broker, I very often come across most unusual flats, apartments, villas or residences. However, from time to time even I – and I have seen more than one wonderful property – am left speechless at the sight of an amazing house. This is exactly how it was this time, when my company Crystal House took on a spectacular modernist villa located in Podkowa Leśna near Warsaw.
Podkowa Leśna – one of the richest districts in Poland
It has been known for a long time that the richest Poles buy their houses and mansions in towns around the capital. Milanówek, Konstancin-Jeziorna, Anin and Podkowa Leśna are just a few addresses where the per capita income is much higher than the national average. Of all those mentioned by me, the highest on the list of the richest Polish districts is the indirect heroine of my today’s post, i.e. Podkowa Leśna. It occupies 15th place and is basically the highest-located Masovian commune – I do not count Warsaw, because the capital “plays” in a completely different league.

The beginnings of Podkowa Leśna
Podkowa Leśna is located approx. 30 km west of the center of Warsaw. The town was started in the year 1925 – it was then that the “Miasto-Ogród Podkowa Leśna” company was established; its aim was to build a new city on the land belonging to the industrialist Stanisław Lilpop (the one from the famous company “Lilpop, Rau Loewenstein”, the largest industrial company of the interwar period capital). The location was not accidental – the newly built Electric Commuter Railway route ran through Podkowa, which made it a very attractive location.
Since Podkowa was intended to be built in accordance with the concept of the garden-city of Ebenezer Howard, the urban plan created by the famous architect of the interwar period, Anotni Jawornicki, envisaged the creation of concentric streets-avenues around the railway station. In a way, the name Podkowa comes from their layout – the street grid is a bit like a horseshoe.
Low, single-family buildings were to prevail. And so it happened. As a result, over 50 years later, in 1981, the town was entered in the register of monuments due to its urban layout, buildings and greenery. In Podkowa, like nowhere in Poland, we can observe the evolution of Polish architecture of the interwar period.
An amazing modernist residence
The modernist residence, which I am pleased to present to you today, is a direct reference to the history of the town. It is a brand new and never inhabited property with an area of over 450 m2, situated on a plot of 6,000 m2.
The house is fully finished and has never been inhabited. The style in which it was built, but also the interior decoration, the materials used (exotic wood, stone) and huge glazing is inspired by pre-war modernist villas. It is a place that will appeal to people who love space and the closeness of nature that almost gets inside.
A spacious hall, a semi-open kitchen with ground countertops and Miele appliances, a living room with a dining area, a fireplace lounge, a cinema room, a guest room and a bathroom are the representative part located on the ground floor. Private area is located on the first floor – there are three bedrooms (including a master bedroom with a bathing room and a dressing room), a bathroom and a library.
It is worth mentioning that the villa has an underground heated garage for 6 cars, an outdoor swimming pool, an elevator and a beautiful, well-kept garden with old oak trees.
