Audi RS7-R from ABT: an exception to a boring rule
Tuning of cars is a service that has been around for many years now; each year more and more people are willing to customise their cars. There is nothing unusual about it, since we live in the era of individualism and so the possibility of modifying our car according to our preferences seems really appealing. Tuning improves performance, pimps the car’s looks and adds functionalities.
Among the best tuners one will find brands such as Brabus (Mercedes), Mansory (the majority of household names, from Aston Martin to Tesla), Abarth (Fiat) or ABT (Volkswagen AG cars). Today I would like to show you a sports car that was tuned by this last workshop: Audi ABT RS7-R.
A holistic approach
The latest version of Audi RS7 went on sale at the end of last year. It’s a powerful, wild and fun to ride sportback that took over many features from the Audi RS6. And yet people from ABT came to the conclusion that even such a car can undergo a small lifting and it worked! Largely due to the fact that they decided to take a really holistic approach rather than focus on details which they usually do.
A very ample tuning package
The modifications proposed by the workshop concerned the engine, wheels, chassis and interiors… which means they concerned pretty much everything.
The car’s factory settings included a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 producing 591 horsepower and 591 lb-ft of torque (which allowed reaching 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds) and ABT squeezed out of it 740 horsepower and 678 lb-ft of torque which means that time needed to accelerate 0-100 km/h was cut by 0.4 seconds. Nice!
The chassis also underwent various modifications – ABT added elements made of carbon fibre, stickers and certain parts improving the car’s aerodynamics such as new bumpers and thresholds. In addition, ABT opted for larger 22-inch wheels.
Inside you will find better quality leathers as well as many carbon fibre elements which look really good against the piano black of the dashboard.
Limited edition
ABT will limit the number of tuned cars to 125 pieces only. Each one of them will have its own unique serial number which will be engraved on a special plaque placed in the central console.
The price for a brand new Audi RS7 in Poland starts from 610 500 zlotys; I am pretty sure the tuned version will cost well over a million zlotys.
