Four most awaited electric motorcycles
And so it happened! Some of the largest motorcycle makes are starting to seriously consider expanding onto the market of electric bikes. It was really just a matter of time before they did, but still, it did come as a slight surprise. After all, one of the perks of riding a bike is the noise it makes. At least this is what I have been told as I am not a biker myself.
Will electric motorcycles be a hit? I am not sure. Being a careful observer of the automotive industry, I must admit that green cars are more and more popular on the market. This is why, today I wrote post about the four most interesting electric motorbikes available in 2020. Will they still be produced a few years forward? We just have to wait and see.
1. 2020 Honda CR-E MX
Honda is well known for its enduro bikes – agile, durable machines with great suspension, and it seems that its electric version will be just as good. The make first unveiled its concept of a cross motorcycle in 2019 at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. Not much is known currently about the engine the bike will be fitted with. The body, suspension, wheels and brakes were taken from its older sister, the Honda CRF250R. Mass production of the bike will most likely begin in the second half of 2020.
2. 2020 Energica Ego
I had never heard about this make before, perhaps because I have not been following closely the market of electric bike manufacturers. Nevertheless, this is a model worth having a closer look at – Ego was first shown during last year’s Milan fair and back the nit made a great impression on me. The maximum speed of this electric gem is over 240 km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds! Plus, there is no gear box so you do not have to operare manual gears – just turn the throttle lever and off you go!
3. 2020 Lightning Strike
Lightning is not a new make on the motorcycle market. This US-based company has been operating since 2006. The Lighting Strike is a slimmed down version of its standard superbike, i.e. the LS-218, and this makeover did the bike good. The electric bike can ride up to 240 km/h and can travel up to 240 km on a single 35-minute charging session. Impressive!
4. 2020 Harley-Davidson Livewire
If Harley-Davidson makes an electric bike, there must be a future for the market. I am very impressed by their new brainchild. The HDelectric bike is simply beautiful and incredibly fast – it speeds up to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. It can be ridden over a distance of up to 160 km on one charging (which is quite a lot for an electric bike). There are seven riding modes to choose from – sports, road, large-range, rain and three user-configured modes.
