There are two parts of Warsaw that always put a smile on my face when I hear their names. The first is Wesoła (which translates from Polish as ‘merry’) and the other is Radość (its name literally means ‘joy’). Today’s post is devoted to the latter as I have recently listed a house in Radość at my company Crystal House.

Radość is an old summer village near Warsaw. Its history dates back to the 19th century. This was when the first summer villas owned by wealthy Varsovians were erected in the Zbójna Góra area. One such villa owned by Antoni Fertner was called Radość and it lent its name to the entire village.

Radość is located along the so-called Otwock railway connecting Warsaw with Otwock. Owing to excellent commuting opportunities with the centre of the city Radość quickly expanded in the inter-war period. This was primarily because the area is very pretty and the air was much cleaner than in the city.

In fact, Radość maintained its suburban style despite being made a district of Warsaw a few dozen years ago. Single-family housing, a slower pace of life, lots of greenery and the vicinity of the forest are some of the core merits of this district.

Modern house in Radość

This is where an exceptional property is located in the direct vicinity of the forest and among other single-family buildings. The modern 550 m2 house was erected in 2009 and is still in mint condition. Its simple, modernist shape and functionality make the house an example of well thought-out and intelligent architecture. The open-plan of the interior and extensive glazing make the space very welcoming.

On the first floor there are four bedrooms including a master bedroom with an ensuite bathing room, a guest room with an ensuite bathroom, a library and fully furnished gym with a sauna and solarium.
