Aston Martin DBX: Will James Bond appreciate the SUV from his favourite make?
Aston Martin did make us wait quite some time for its first SUV but it is finally here. The long-awaited DBX was unveiled 10 days ago. It is a car which the Gaydon engineers began working on in 2015. Is it worth the wait? Let’s have a closer look at the vehicle.
Better late than never
The DBX is an SUV from the luxury segment populated to date by the Porsche Cayenne, the Bentley Bentayga or the Maserati Levante. Although Aston Martin joined the segment of makes from the premium segment offering 4×4 sports card he did it in style. Not only does the DBX look great but it has a very rich interior.
Not everyone has to be green
Just one look under the bonnet and it becomes clear that the DBX designers were not too environmentally-oriented when they were making the car. The V8 turbo 550 KM and 700 Nm torque was borrowed from the Mercedes AMG. Owing to such parameters, the car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and its maximum speed is 291 km/h. One of the car’s merits is the noise it makes – the sound is both beautiful and demonic. It really sends shivers down your spine!
Obviously, such an engine is always thirsty for fuel and its CO2 emissions are very high. Oh well, it is what it is.
Spacious and luxurious interior
The DBX is the first Gaydon-made car to accommodate 5 adults. There will still be enough room left for three suitcases that will easily fit in the 632-litre hood. The car owes so much space inside to its impressive dimensions: the DBX is 5 m long, 2 m wide and 1.68 m tall and its wheelbase is 3.06 m!
Skiers and dog owners will be pleased to hear the car has been fitted with amenities designed with them in mind, such as: heated insoles for ski boots and a small, battery-powered cleaner that will wash off the dirt after a walk before the pet is let inside the car. This is actually a great option as the materials used inside are patent leather, alcantra, wood, metal and even carbon fibre.
Aston Martin intends to manufacture up to 4,000 of this SUV annually. The price tag? Approximately EUR 193,500. It is not cheap but probably worth the money.
