I have already written posts on the blog about some amazing electric cars. In fact, the replacement of a fuel engine with an electric one happens more often than ever. I think we could easily assume that this trend is more than just a fad and is likely to transform the automotive industry forever. This is becoming even more evident when even makes such as Lotus launch battery-operated vehicles on the market. Which model am I talking about? The Lotus Evija first shown to the public 2 days ago. The car will be available for purchase in early 2020 and is said to cost USD 2.11. Only 130 cars will be made.

Massive power
The make has been through a rough patch for several years now. The British car manufacturer was in big trouble and it was not until Chinese concern Geely (the owner of Volvo and Polestar) offered its financing did Lotus get back on track. The result? Lotus Evija: an electric car with the power of 2,000 hp which accelerates from 0 to 300 km/h in… 9 seconds only. How is that possible?
The Lotus Evija is fitted with 4 electric engines – each powering a different wheel. Owing to this, the car which weighs nearly 1.7 tonnes can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. The vehicle’s maximum speed is roughly 320 km/h.

Formula 1 technologies
The Williams team (the Formula 1 team) is the brains behind such excellent performance. Their engineers were the ones who developed powertrain and supported Lotus in the developing the aerodynamic design. This makes the Lotus Evija go fast where needed and limits air resistance. The car also has an automatically raised spoiler and a system resembling the Formula 1 DRS.

Fast charging
According to the manufacturer, it takes 18 minutes (a 350 KW charger) to chargé the 70 kWh batteries. This is a really short time given the fact that the car has a range of 400 km.

An interior from the future
The car interior is very original and boldly design. There is no entertainment screen – the display only shows information regarding the drive and the car parameters. However, the central console features all the necessary functions, namely Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The Lotus Evija will offer a few driving modes: Eco, City, Tour as well as Sport and Track.
I like this car very much.
