Bugatti La Voiture Noir for CR7?
Bugatti La Voiture Noir – or the world’s most expensive car – is another car that I saw at the Geneva Motor Show.
This car was the talk of the town even before it was unveiled to the public. Rumour had it that Bugatti will showcase their new car which had been hailed the most expensive car in the world even before it premiered at the Geneva Motor Show. The manufacturer of the luxury vehicles announced that their new gem will be an homage to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic. It turns out that the person to buy the La Voiture Noir might just be a famous fast car aficionado, none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The legendary car
Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic or the original La Voiture Noir was first made in 1936. Its distinct features were a futuristic body, incredible performance for the time (maximum speed of over 200 km/h) and exceptionally comfortable interiors. The car was the brainchild of the make’s founder, Jean Bugatti. It had an 8-cylinder, almost 3.3 l and 210 HP inline engine. At the time, it was an absolute novelty.
Only four cars of this model were assembled by hand but only three were sold. Jean Bugatti kept one for himself. In fact, the car made by Bugatti Jr was lost in transit in the 1940s. Today, there are only three such cars in the world, and each is worth over EUR 100 million.
Homage to the legend
La Voiture Noir is a modern take on the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic. It features elements that are a direct nod the 1936 car: a futuristic look, six exhausts, and a deep black colour. The strong engine – exactly the same one as in the Bugatti Chiron is another thing that links the two cars. La Voiture Noir is fitted with a W16 8 l and 1500 HP engine.
Only one such car was manufactured and apparently it will be purchased by Cristiano Ronaldo. According to some sources, it was bought by the head of the Volkswagen Group, Ferdinand Piech. Whoever the new owner will be, the purchase will set him or her back some PLN71 million, which makes it one of the most expensive cars in the world.
I must admit that the car made quite an impression on mi and I do not even mind the fact that part of the tyre is painted so that the rims seem to be bigger than they are. The Bugatti La Voiture Noir is yet another car from the Molsheim factory which seduces from first sight.
