The Cannes Yachting Festival 2018: more beauty on water
The Cannes Yachting Festival that is ending today is without a doubt one of the most important events in the yachting world. I came here last year and knew I could not miss this year’s festival. Just as last year, this time did not disappoint – the boats showcased in Cannes are the best, the most beautiful and the most luxurious yachts in the world.
This edition of the Cannes festival hosted over 500 exhibitors who are showcasing their boats of the length between 5 and 50 metres, including small motor boats and large motor yachts, luxury monohull boats and catamarans. There are nearly 640 yachts on display, including 120 world premieres!
The boats that made the greatest impression on me are the large boats by Sanlorenzo and Riva. Sanlorenzo is an Italian shipyard from Liburia which builds truly one-of-a-kind yachts. Sanlorenzo equals passion, accuracy, precision and utmost care and attention. Their incredible design makes these boats not only luxurious but also plainly beautiful. The interiors of the Sanlorenzo yachts are finished with high-end materials and fitted with stylish furniture. Needless to say, these boats have all the amenities that can be expected of such vessels.
As for the other brand, Riva is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. This Italian shipyard grounds its work on the expertise and experience of people who have been building boats for generations. Riva yachts stand out from the competition owing to their clean and simple lines, elegance, originality, exclusive design and a unique style. Furthermore, they are incredibly innovative and technologically advanced.
It is worth noting that there were some Polish productions on display in Cannes. I am referring to a yacht that is particularly close to my heart. It is the Sunreef 80 that I wrote about before. Just as a quick reminder: it is a catamaran made by Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts, it is 24.4 m long, its total sail area is 355 m2, its area is 340 m2 and depending on the model, the engines generate between 225 and 280 HPeach. I must admit that the Sunreef 80 looked fantastic in Cannes and is on par with boats made by the world’s most established shipyards.
I am glad I could come here this year and hope I can make it to Cannes for the festival next year as well.
