Would you prefer a flat in an old tenement or in a modern block of flats?
Unfortunately, Warsaw was not a city where pre-war tenements are a common sight. The atrocities of the war have deprived the city of essential urban tissue and the post-war architecture had to be adjusted to the new order. Houses and blocks of flats had to be functional, quick and easy to build and repetitive.
I have been recently witnessing a greater interest on the real estate market in flats and apartments located in old, restored tenement houses. These are usually large apartments which have undergone complete makeovers. This trends has been popular in many European capitals for some time now – in Berlin, London 0r Paris, renovated apartments in tenements are just as popular as those located in newly erected buildings. It is their special ambience that makes old apartments so unique.
Some time ago, I added a very interesting property of this kind to the offer of my company Crystal House. Said apartment is located in southern Śródmieście district at ul. Flory and it spans an area of nearly 240 sq. m. The tenement house dating back to the Tsarist times where the apartment is located was erected in 1913, during the partitions of Poland. During the renovation works, parts of the original woodwork were restored, namely the main door and the railings were renovated, and the walls and ceilings were redone as per the design of the conservator. Carrara marble was used in the common areas of the building. The tenement is monitored and secured 24/7.
The location could not be better – the Belweder palace, the Łazienki Park and the Plac Unii Lubelskiej with shops and services available in the nearby shopping centre are all in close proximity. The strict centre of Warsaw is only 1 15-minute walk away.
The apartment is situated on the fifth floor and is very tall – the distance from the floor to the ceiling is 3.6 m. The apartment was arranged and furnished in a luxuriant style and the official and private zones are clearly separated. The apartment has a spacious living room overlooking the Belweder, which makes it ideal for entertaining. There are three bedrooms, including one with an en suite bathroom, an office, a recreational room, a guest bathroom and toilets. All of the windows offer a view of Warsaw.
The price of this unique property is PLN 6,900,000.
