Sunreef Yachts: Sailing Launches of the Year
I wrote a post about Sunreef Yachts some time ago. It is a Polish shipyard from the Tricity which manufactures luxurious catamarans, in both powered and sailing versions. During the recent “Pomorskie Rendez-Vous” event I had the pleasure of seeing two completely new sailing yachts, namely: the Sunreef 60 and the Sunreef 80.
The Sunreef 60 is a 18.3-metre-long sailing catamaran with a total sail area (mainsail and genoa) of 180 m2and it is fitted with two engines which, depending on the option, have from 75 to 110 HP each. The living space of the yacht is 225 m2across four decks.
In terms of design, the Sunreef 60 combines the features of a traditional sailing boat and contemporary design trends. With a completely fresh superstructure concept, the Sunreef 60 gains a saloon plan with an outstanding potential for customization. A vast, central lounging space with a panoramic view and endless layout possibilities, it opens both onto the bow terrace and cockpit. The flybridge houses the main helm and a spacious leisure area.
The Sunreef 60 is a truly luxurious yacht which will be the perfect vessel for both a chartered and as transoceanic cruises.
The Sunreef 80 is a slightly larger yacht, designed in a similar way to its smaller cousin. The dimensions and performance of this vessel are different though – the total length of the catamaran is 24.4 metres, the total sail area is 355 m2, the yacht’s living space is 340 m2, and depending on the model the engines generate from 225 to 280 HP each. This yacht also boasts a saloon plan with an outstanding potential for customization as per the owner’s needs and preferences.
I was also intrigued by one of the power yachts, i.e. the 40 Open Sunreef Power. This leisure catamaran concept was first presented this year during the Dubai International Boat Show. It is currently the most technologically advanced vessel of its kind in the world. The two-hull structure of the vessel ensures its stability even at very high speed. And the speed it can sail at is truly awe-inspiring – depending on the type of engine, it can go as fast as 60 knots.
The 40 Open Sunreef Power offers much more space than any other day cruiser. Owing to the extensive storage space and folding platforms on the stern, the yacht would make the perfect water sports companion. There is considerable living space under the deck which can be arranged as per the owner’s needs and preferences (it can even accommodate a bathroom!).
