Minimalistic interiors in the Cosmpolitan high-rise
It is natural that I see many different apartment interiors on a regular basis, given my profession of a real estate broker. After all, it is part of my job. For some time now, I have been observing a trend that is becoming more and more popular, namely finishing apartments in a noble and elegant minimalistic style, as is the case with this stylish apartment. How has it happened that the “golden glamour style” of the 1980s and 1990s was replaced with interiors like these?
There is a Polish saying which roughly translates as “borrow money if you must to dazzle your guests”. It does refer above all to entertaining, but given what the interior of homes of affluent Poles looked like in the last two decades of the 20thcentury, one can easily apply it to the home decoration as well.
Golden ornaments, colourful carpets, useless trinkets – this is what the majority of Polish luxury houses looked like in the late 20thcentury. In a way it was a follow-up to the colourful and quirky 1980s trends which reached Poland with a delay, for obvious reasons. It seems legitimate for the pendulum of style to have swung to the other end of the spectrum and paved the way for minimalism.
Noble minimalism is a style which dominates the interiors of the Cosmopolitan high-rise in Warsaw. Calm, subdued, and elegant, they are an efficient counterweight for busy spaces.Such interiors soothe the nerves owing to the absence of unnecessary clutter. The style uses bright colours and shapes, but never in excess. Another merit of minimalism is the comfort it offers by placing the person in the centre of things.
However, “minimalistic” is not synonymous with “ascetic”.While it is true that there is no unnecessary furniture and objects there, minimalist interiors can still be cosy and welcoming. This is possible owing to the use of carefully selected home decor such as wallpaper and carpets and lighting. The colour scheme, i.e. a mix of black, white and grey with a hint of the basic colours is also what makes such places pleasant to live in. Minimalism also consists in skilfully mixing and matching geometric patterns and simple contemporary art works.
