New Jaguar E-Pace: a compact SUV not only for the city
I don’t think I will be far from the truth if I say that every man would love to drive a Jaguar at least for once in his life. Jag cars are driven by celebrities such as David Beckham, Harrison Ford, Simon Cowell, and even the British Queen Elisabeth II herself. That’s why, when I was offered the opportunity to test the latest SUV from the Jaguar stable called E-Pace, I did not hesitate a single moment.
E-Pace has just had its premiere in Poland. If you visit the Polish Jaguar website you will learn that the car “combines the legendary driving characteristics of all Jaguar cars with everyday practicality, class-leading boot and a dashboard focused on the driver who is the central point of a family interior” and one can hardly disagree with this description. This is a family SUV, which will work both in the city and on a longer route.
From the very first moment you see the car, your attention gets caught by its chassis. Dynamic lines, a coupé-like rear, elegant minimalistic beams – all this makes the car very pleasant to the eyes. Maybe because of rather big tyres when compared to the rest of the car, the whole thing with its crouched silhouette reminded me of a young kitten on fat paws, playful and a little bit unpredictable (but in the good way).
I tested E-Pace on a lonely trip to Wroclaw, so it’s hard for me to say anything about the comfort of passengers. From the driver’s point of view, there is a lot of space even for a tall guy like me and I was able to position the seat conveniently and ergonomically. As for the operation of numerous switches and on-board infotainment system Touch Pro with a 10-inch touch screen, at times I got somewhat lost. Nevertheless I think that I should not blame it on the designers but rather on me being used to drive a different car on a daily basis. Generally speaking, it is intuitive.
The model I was testing was an E-Pace First Edition: a 180 bhp 2.0 diesel unit with a four-wheel drive. I know I should not say this (because it is illegal even on the highway), but I went as fast as 125 mph. This means E-Pace lives up to the manufacturer’s promise of maximum speed indicated as 130 mph.
All in all, E-Pace is a car that I would recommend to everyone thanks to its versatility: women, men and families. It is also a very successful rejuvenation of the brand. I had a really good weekend with this car.
